White Sage (Homegrown)

Sage is a sacred tradition.

Sage is a traditional medicinal plant of the Native American people. Burning sage is a 2,000-year-old Indigenous American practice. Shamans used dried sage plants on their fires to call on ancient spirits. Sage smoke is said to absorb evil spirits, anger, and negative energies from the air or the person burning it. Sage is used for healing and ceremony. It is used for cleansing and purification, and to open people up to a greater connection with the sacred. It is thought to banish negative energy, not only on the physical level but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It has a very aromatic, sharp, and stimulating smell, and its action works on all the senses.

Sage is proven to neutralize negative energy, kill harmful bacteria, improve sleep, and alleviate anxiety and stress. When burned the smoke heals and brings one back into balance and cleanses the body and mind of negative spirits and impurities. Smudging sage has also been known globally to help relieve worry, open the mind, clear negative thoughts and feelings, and de-stress the spirit.

Use Sage with meditation and yoga.
Smudging with sage and herbs is a powerful tool in spiritual practice. Burning sage improves awareness and focus. It is commonly used to practice mindfulness and transcendental meditation.

How to Use
Hold the sage bundle at a 45-degree angle and ignite. Let it burn for a few seconds before lightly blowing the flame out. Waft the smoke around your home to clear surrounding energies and invite peace and positivity into the space. When finished, place the sage bundle in a bowl with the ignited tip down. It will put itself out. To lengthen burn time, blow on the embers.

Some may choose to break some off into an abalone shell and light up the loose sage while walking around their home or space as the sage smoke fills up the room.

Either way you choose is fine. Just explore which way feels best and trust your intuition.
